We are very proud to announce that the Philadelphia Estate Planning Council was recognized as a 2024 5 Star Council by the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils (“NAEPC”) as part of the Leonard H. Neiman and Walter Lee Davis, Jr. Council of Excellence Award program. This honor recognizes estate planning councils that have demonstrated a high level of achievement in areas critical to a successful membership experience.1
As a reminder for existing members and to inform new members, PEPC is a member of the NAPEC. As a member of our council, you are as well! NAEPC provides many member benefits. The NAEPC website is www.naepc.org.
NAEPC serves estate planning councils with goals of excellence in estate planning, education, and collaboration. In addition to providing great networking opportunities, among your benefits as a member are access to:
the NAEPC Journal of Estate & Tax Planning, which provides regular updates on important information regarding the world of estate and tax planning
Professional Designations like the Accredited Estate Planner® (“AEP®”)
The Robert G. Alexander Webinar Series, providing estate planners with high quality, multi-disciplinary and supplemental education
An outstanding Annual Conference with national speakers
Talking of which, mark your calendar for the 61st Annual NAEPC Advanced Estate Planning Strategies Conference, which will be held in Anaheim, California from October 20-24, 2024. The Conference provides an amazing opportunity to build and cultivate relationships and to learn from nationally renowned speakers.
Last year PEPC submitted three Board nominated AEP® applications, all of which were enthusiastically approved. We want to extend a heartfelt congratulations to our newest AEP® Designees: Brian M. Balduzzi, Joseph A. DeVito and Benjamin K. Rodgers. We are hoping to at least double that number this year! If you are interested in becoming an AEP®, and would like additional information after visiting NAEPC’s website, feel free to reach out to one of us or you may wait for the NAEPC Engagement Committee’s next virtual education program, “AEP® Explained,” to be held next year.
In addition, we have a number of PEPC members who have joined NAEPC national committees. The time commitment is manageable and the rewards tremendous (as least that has been our experience).
If you are interested in serving on our NAEPC Engagement Committee or want to know more about NAEPC or our committee, please reach out to one of us.

1 The Council of Excellence Award is named for two individuals who truly sought to strengthen the bond between NAEPC and its affiliated councils during their terms on the board. Walter Lee Davis, Jr. served as president of the association in 2008 and was instrumental in forming the Council Relations Committee, a group of volunteer members who are charged with being a liaison between affiliates and the national association. Leonard H. Neiman served the association as a board member for over fifteen years and worked tirelessly to gather information about estate planning councils from around the country.
